My role as an artist missionary includes encouraging and exhorting artists. I'd love to meet up with you if you are an artist who is in need of encouragement!

I also will host gatherings and am working on forming some triads of artists who are Christians to encourage one another. You can see upcoming gatherings on the home page and reach out if you are interested in meeting or being part of a triad.

Triads

A group of 3 (sometimes 4) can be a powerful means of encouragement. As artists, our work can be very isolating or lonely, but we all flourish when we have consistent creative community. An artist triad is a way to commit to one another, keep a regular rhythm of accountability to be creating and growing in faith, and is also just quite fun!

Right now triads are not officially overseen or organized, but if you are interested in connecting to other artists and meeting regularly, let me know so this project can grow!

As a writer and a teacher, I am able to do custom poetry workshops with churches and small groups. Examples of what I have done in the past:

Poetry as Meditation

This session can be anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours and helps even beginner poets meditate on a theme. 

This uses found poetry where we pull phrases from hymns, scripture, and theological quotes and arrange them as a way to think on and pray over truth. There is an optional creative element using art supplies to display the final poem.

Poetry is For Everyone

I also have an introduction to poetry and the Bible class covering the following: 

• what is poetry?

• why is poetry necessary?

• how does engaging with poetry help us read the Bible?

• optional poetry writing at the end
